About

" I first visited Ulverston back in 1989, I had read a newspaper article on
Laurel & Hardy only to discover that Stan was born just 90 miles from
were I live, there was something about the town that made me feel very
comfortable & at home", said Brian Worthington, a Wigan born
businessman. Brian became a regular visitor exploring the town, leaving no
stone unturned.

One year on, he decided to research Stan's life reading books, engaging
in many talks with the late Bill Cubin, curator of the Laurel & Hardy
museum and having the privilege of once talking to one of Stan's relatives,
Mrs Nancy Wardell, at an annual Sons of the desert event held at the
Beer Engine in Wigan, Brian listened to Nancy for a good hour, she also
signed a photo of herself on one of the pages in a book he bought from
Bill's museum, back on his first ever visit to Ulverston, the book is called
Laurel before Hardy and is very rare.

With all this knowledge, Brian dreamed of making a film about Young
Stan & his life in the town. Many years passed by & towards the end of
2009, along with his wife Julie, they both set about writing the script,
seven months on, the script is almost complete and the cast selection
process has begun. Shooting of the film began early this year and is
still in production.
