Park Lane Chapel
Park lane chapel sets the scene for romance with
Madge Metcalfe & her future husband Arthur Jefferson.

Arthur, a play write, actor & manager of a little theatre
known as the “Gaff”, situated just across from the Metcalfes
home in Foundry Cottages, often called into the chapel to
listen to Madge singing in the choir.

One day Arthur plucked up courage to stop & talk to Madge
as she was leaving choir practice.

Arthur offered her a singing role in one of his plays, Madge
soon became very popular at the Gaff, getting standing
ovations after every show, Arthur proposed to Madge &
they soon married, forming a show business duo.
Choir master, George Walsh, conducts his
singers to perfection, the choir members are
Rev Lynne Readett, John Readett, Susan Lowe
Dorothy Webster, Megan Harris “Madge” & Lucy
Robertson.

During practice, the choir master ask’s for
stronger vocals from John, Madge soon gets
distracted from her singing when Arthur walks
into the chapel & sits on a pew.
